About Márcio Lopes

I born in Porto in 1983. Very earlier i started working with my grandparents in agriculture. In 2006 I took the Agronomic Enginering degree. In 2005 i began working with Anselmo Mendes in Melgaço. 2008 I went Australia doing vintages. 2010 we started our own traditional and family projects called PEQUENOS REBENTOS in Monção Melgaço (alvarinho and vinho verde) and PROIBIDO in Douro Superior (working with old vineyards).

Nowadays we still go back to find old winemaking and find old vineyards, working without herbicides in the vineyard and less sulfur in the winery. Last year we made 80.000 bottles and we export for 14 countries.

This year, 2019, we received, the “Best Young Winemaker of the year” by Magazine Revista de Vinhos and the “Best Upcoming Winemaker Award” by Magazine Grandes Escolhas.
